Brief History>>

2017

Since 2017, the students applying for admission to the Department in day school system are formally divided into the sections of Food Technology and Baking Technology.

2012

To meet the day-school students’ need for learning baking technology, since 2012, the students admitted to the Department in day school system are not divided in sections for their freshman year in university until turning sophomore year when they will be divided into the sections of Food Technology and Baking Technology according to individual intention.

2010

The Department of Food Science and Applied Biotechnology was renamed The Department of Food Science and Technology according to its teaching goal and needs of the industry.

2008

Bio Industrial Technology Research Institute was renamed Food Science and Applied Biotechnology Research Institute.

The Department of Food Science and Nutrition added two sections: one was Food Science and Applied Biotechnology, the other was Nutritional Science

2006

Bio Industrial Technology Research Institute was added to the Department.

2000

Four-year program of special class of the Department of Food Science and Nutrition was established.

1998

Day time four-year program of the Department of Food Science and Nutrition was established.

1997

Day time two-year program of the Department of Food Science and Nutrition was established.

1994

Day time two-year program of the Division of the Food Science and Nutrition was established.

1988

Night time two-year program of the Division of the Food Science and Nutrition was established.

1981

Day time five-year program of the Division of the Food Science and Nutrition was established.

    1.  The graduate school of the Department of the Food Science and Technology is open for the graduates majoring in medicine、Pharmacy、Medical Technology、  Food Science、Nutrition、Nursing、Biotechnology、Life Sciences、Chemistry、Chemical Engineering、Agricultural  Chemistry、Nutrition and Health Sciences、Cosmetic Applications and Management、and other Biology-related departments.
  • 2. The Department is also open for the graduates of senior high schools、comprehensive senior high school 、and vocational senior high school.

  • l. Graduates of the Department can apply for or participate in the proficiency examination of the graduate schools of   food science、nutritional science、biotechnology and other related graduate schools.
  • 2. Graduates can work in the these fields, such as biotechnology companies、food companies、Health food industry、spices and essential oils work division、pharmaceutical factories、health inspection agencies, and so on.
 


Graduates of the Department can be engaged in the fields such as food manufacturing 、food R & D、food inspection and even can be public or private chief inspectors of food hygiene. In addition, graduates can be researchers and technicians at public and private academic research institutions. Besides, they can be quality control personnel at food companies、pharmaceutical factories、feed mills. They can be engaged in R & D of biotechnology food factories and can be quality control personnel.

< Nutrition Fields>
Graduates can be nutritionists at all classifications of hospital. They can be nutrition survey personnel at public or private organizations.  They can be professionals at nutrition counseling services to community agencies. They also can be personnel of dietary supervision and management at restaurants、schools、factories、nursery schools、preschools、and maintenance centers for the elderly. They also can be catering operations and management personnel. They can be professional advisors and nutritionists at health food industries. Besides, they can be R & D personnel at food companies、pharmaceutical factories、feed mills. Finally, they also can be research assistants at public or private academic research organizations.
